Here's a picture of me and the Little Man. I stopped in at the hospital this afternoon a little after church let out. As much as I enjoyed seeing him, I was sobered and saddened by the turn that events in his young life are taking. I can't comment on things any more than to say that there is a chance that he will not be going home with mom.
It breaks my heart to say that. For both their sakes.
Some things have happened that may preclude a "normal" departure for him from the hospital. It appears he may be there for a few more days and that I will be stopping in to see him for awhile each evening, as I was given a "baby ID bracelet" when he was born Friday evening. Mom is not at the hospital right now.
That's all I'm going to say about that.
So anyways, he and I had a serious discussion about sports, politics, women, and the stock market while he worked on a bottle of formula. After a couple of gigantic farts and a good burping session, he nodded off to sleep and I got a few pictures of us off my webcam.
He really is a good kid.
The shade of blue in this picture is from some kind of warming device they use on newborn babies now. It's got the hue of a light saber about it, as though the Little Man is in training to be a Jedi or something.
And so here we are in the hospital, two guys spending time together.
In a perfect world, he and mom will be together.
In a less than perfect world, he will be in foster care for at least awhile until mom gets herself in a position to take on the responsibilities of full-time care.
Please keep them both in prayer.
And please keep me in prayer...
I was also in a position like this when I was born...
And my situation was far from perfect.
But it got better with time.
Let's hope his situation does too.

Gene, you're doing everything you can, and you deserve major props for being there. If Mom can't get things together, there are loads of folks who would absolutely love to have that baby. I know you know that. (hug)
ReplyDeleteGene, that is a Light blanket for jaundice babies, Julia had to have one...he will only have it for a few days...he is adorable!!! Prayers for him and for mom!!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say it, but Connie beat me to it. That blanket is for jaundice, which he probably has because he was induced. Induction births increase jaundice risks by quite a lot actually.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's good to see him in arms being held and loved on.
Keeping Little Man and his mom in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteYou too my brother.
Thank you, Richard, thank you very much. I'm praying a lot myself. Tons of prayer.
ReplyDeleteGene , this is a prayer for the little man, and his Mother. I pray it for my children . Its based on the wonderful fact that Jesus ,our Lord is with us from conception to death, even when we don't know it .
ReplyDeleteJesus bless his conception
Jesus bless his time in the wonb
may the peace of the birth of Jesus be on his birth.
I present his whole being to Jesus.
May Jesus be in all the sufferings of his life
May Jesus heal him by His stripes.
Jesus crown him with glory, praise, honour and thanksgiving
Jesus teach him to carry his cross and follow You
Lord Jesus recieve his spirit
Jesus bless him in his daily death
Jesus bless him in his final death
Jesus give him a power of resurrection in each day of his life
Jesus be with him all of his days
Jesus fill him with the Holy Spirit
Jesus lead him from earth to heaven
Jesus make him the person he was meant to be .
God bless you, Elaine...I will never forget your prayer...I would to use it sometime. I hope you wouldn't mind. :-)
